An invitation to travel. Like a solitary adventurer who has sailed across the seas, Cos d'Estournel seems at first secret and intriguing. Then he reveals himself, slowly. Step by step, in small touches, he invokes tales of distant cities, markets with a thousand secrets, joyful celebrations in villages with hot stones, women with voluptuous curves. The smells, colors, and flavors reveal themselves little by little, in happy memories. An elegant, fascinating charm, between restraint and assumed sensuality.
Wine is a living matter. After maturing in barrels, it continues to evolve in bottles, year after year. To better appreciate the aromas of Cos d'Estournel wines, we suggest a few simple rules.
For optimal conservation of the wines, it is best to store them in a healthy room, keeping the temperature between 12° and 15° and the humidity level around 80%.
Depending on the characteristics of each vintage and over time, Cos d'Estournel wines develop complex and different aromas. Tasting them will reveal their qualities all the more by applying the appropriate service.
The youngest wines, after 2000, can be poured into carafes at least 1h30 before tasting. Indeed, it may be necessary to channel their ardor, and aeration will allow them to express their full potential.
To delicately release the aromas of vintages between 1982 and 2000, we advise to aerate them in carafe for about an hour before serving them.
Wines prior to 1982 are best served in bottle, as a too brutal supply of air could harm the delicacy of these old vintages.
We recommend serving your wine at a temperature of between 17 and 18°C. Warming up in your glass will release all its aromas and delicacy.
