How does it work?
The main ingredient is urea: the "gold standard" for the treatment of dry skin. Urea is naturally produced by the skin to regulate its hydration and is one of the "natural moisturising factors" (NMF). Urea is hygroscopic: it absorbs moisture and stores it in the upper layer of the skin, the stratum corneum. Urea is also keratolytic: it destroys the connections between dead skin cells, improving the desquamation of the cells and thus smoothing the skin surface. As a natural component, urea is well tolerated, even by people with very dry skin.
Eucerin's UreaRepair PLUS Complex combines urea with ceramides, gluco-glycerol and other natural moisturising factors that enhance the effectiveness of urea. The ceramides repair the skin barrier and the gluco-glycerol helps to moisturise the skin and improve its barrier function. This combination of moisturising ingredients is ideal for dry skin.
